Please note that we will be offering either the course 05-19 Communicating Science Online or the course 04-19 Scientific Writing on August 29 & 30, 2019, depending on how many of you are interested to participate. You will be notified by beginning of August, which course we will organize.

|COURSE||The course “Communicating Science Online” offers a well-structured and comprehensive introduction to online media with a particular focus on how scientists can make the most of Twitter, LinkedIn, ResearchGate and blogs.
• Participants of this seminar will have identified and understood the factors underlying effective science communication.
• They will be able to decide which online tools and networks offer tangible benefits.
• Participants will be equipped and encouraged to actively participate in communicating science online.

• The digital profile and how to influence it
• Social networks and their benefit for scientists
• Digital tools for scholarly communication
• Science blogging for beginners
• A framework for successful science communication
• Dos and Don’ts when communicating online
|TARGET AUDIENCE||PhD students and postdocs will be prioritized, however this workshop is open to researchers of all stages from member institutions of Academia Raetica.|

|CREDIT POINTS||The workload will be approximately 16 hours. Please check with your supervisor at your university, if the course counts towards ECTS.|

About the Trainer
Dr. Tobias Maier holds a doctorate in biochemistry and has gained more than 10 years of research experience at internationally leading institutes. His scientific articles have been published in “Science and Cell”. Since 2008, he has also published more than 450 articles on his blog “WeiterGen” published at “ScienceBlogs”. Tobias Maier has several years of experience as a freelance trainer for courses specifically for scientists. Since 2015 he is a lecturer at NaWik and conducts social media seminars and scientific writing seminars.
